Raising and nurturing a gifted child can be an exciting yet daunting challenge.

As a parent, you may have noticed that your child differs from other children his/her age in surprising, often delightful ways. Many a proud parent have deemed their tot advanced or ahead of the game, but most kids are only geniuses in their parent’s eyes until they get formally assessed.

Testing can serve to validate a parent’s beliefs that their child may have above average abilities. Testing prior to kindergarten entry provides valuable information for the family and the school about the child’s level of giftedness, current academic instructional levels, motor abilities and vocabulary development.

Firstborn children tend to be recognised more often than their siblings. When one child in the family is gifted, it is quite possible that others may also be gifted. Early identification is recommended, ages 3 through 8, because it permits early intervention, which is as important for gifted as for any other children with special needs.
