About Me

Ida Shapievsky

B.Science (Psychology), Post. Grad. Dip (Psychology), Diploma in Psychological Practice), Associate Member of Australian Psychological Society.

I have been working with children for the last 17 years. Initially, I started to work weekends with children that had various disabilities – both physical and intellectual. I was subsequently promoted to the role of team leader, being responsible for organising activities for these children; thereby giving parents some respite and the opportunity to spend time with their other children (Eastern Respite and Recreation). I also believe it is important to give back to the community and decided to work in the Big Sister program. Since then, I have been employed in a children’s orphanage in USA as a play therapist; worked for a number of firms where I was in charge of their assessment centres; performed as manager and case manager at a neuropsychology company that focused on the remediation of the functioning of the cerebellum in children that experienced learning and behavioural difficulties (Dore centre); as well as working for a private practice that specialises in treating children and adolescents with various emotional/behavioural/cognitive difficulties.

Some of the workshops I have attended include, but not limited to: Play Therapy, Psychological Assessments, Facilitator Training in conducting anger management workshop for children (RAGE) and many more. In addition, I have facilitated workshops in body image & self-esteem, anger management, anxiety and social skills development.

Being a mother myself, I understand what it is like constantly worrying if you are doing the best job possible for your child. My passion is to help children make easy and stress free transitions that will guide and benefit them as they progress from childhood into their adult lives.
